You can focus on a particular type of weather by selecting books featuring the appropriate character - look for the character symbol in the red roundel at the top left. This will give children a wider understanding of an aspect of the weather and you'll have a wide selection of Learning Points and Activities to use - again, just look for the appropriate character in the roundels (amber for Learning Points and green for Activities).

If you are going to be spending a lot of time outdoors with the children this is a great opportunity to interact with the weather and feel its effects first hand. This may be when you are on holiday or just out for a walk but by taking a selection of Activity leaflets - colour-coded green - you'll have lots of fun activities for them to enjoy.

Stuck indoors on a miserable wet day? (Sorry, Drizzle and Downpour rarely do what they are told!) Read them a Weatherfriends story then spend some time exploring the Learning Points (colour-coded amber). You can follow this up by doing some of the indoor activities in the Activity leaflets.

If you are feeling brave, why not wrap up properly for the conditions outside and go and sample them first hand! Far too often we drag our children indoors at the first drop of rain! Drip and Drop have to do their job sometime, so why not appreciate what they do? Watch how the rain bounces and splashes on the ground, how the colours of everything around us subtly change colour when they are wet, how wind or rain feels on your face?

Getting outdoors in all weathers makes us feel more alive and more in touch with nature- what could be better than that? It brings back the child in all of us - go and splash in a puddle!
